Listen over de ti største seilbåtene i verden endres ikke ofte. Sea Cloud på 109,5 meter ble tatt i bruk under andre verdenskrig og har hatt tittelen som den største seilbåten i verden siden den ble levert i 1931. Snart blir den detronisert av Project Y721. 10. Atlantic, 69.2 meter
Den originale Atlantic var 69,24 meter lang. Seilbåten ble designet av William Gardner og bygget i 1903 av Townsend & Downey i New York.
Atlantic er for lengst borte, Ed Kastelein fikk i oppdrag å lage en kopi av originalen i full størrelse. Den ble bygget ved Van der Graaf BV-verftet i Nederland. Den første lanseringen fant sted i mars 2008 og ble ferdigstilt i juni 2010.
9. Badis, 70 meter
En gang kjent som Sybaris. Den 70 meter lange seilbåten er en av de største bygget av det italienske marineselskapet Perini Navi. Badis ble ferdigstilt i 2016, med Phillipe Briand som konsulent for marinearkitekturen.
Ifølge den spanske avisen El Pais eies seilbåten av kong Mohamed VI av Marokko. Badis bærer det marokkanske flagget og ligger i Casablanca.
Båten har plass til totalt 12 gjester, og tilbyr en mastersuite og fem dobbeltrom, komplett med eget bad og ulike underholdningssentre. Badis ble solgt i april 2017 for 88 millioner euro.
8. Enigma ,75 meter
Enigma er designet for å delta i Observer Single-Handed Trans-Atlantic Race. Seilbåten het tidligere Phocea og klarte å krysse Atlanterhavet i 1976. Senere ble den omgjort til et cruiseskip av det franske båtverftet DCAN.
Enigma har nå en mastersuite, et VIP-rom, to doble lugarer og plass til 12 gjester. I 2021 ble Enigma delvis ødelagt av brann og sank dagen etter.
7. M5 ,77.5 meter
Mirabella V ble bygget for Joseph Vittoria, den tidligere administrerende direktøren i Avis selskapet. Designet av Ron Holland og bygget av VT Shipbuilding i Storbritannia. Seilbåten gikk gjennom utvendige og innvendige modifikasjoner. Hekkseksjonen ble redesignet og utvidet med 3 meter. Karbonfibermasten er 88,3 meter høy og har et seilareal på 3700 m². Mirabella V tilhører nå Rodney Lewis og har fått nytt et nytt navn, M5.
6. Aquijo, 86 meter
Aquijo av Oceanco og Vitters er et massivt fartøy i aluminium. Skroget til seilbåten ble bygget av Zwijnenburg og Aluship. Interiørdesign er utført av Dolker & Voges. Aquijo kan ha opptil 12 gjester med sine syv lugarer.
5. Maltese Falcon, 88 meter
Maltese Falcon er en av tidenes mest anerkjente og verdsatte seilbåt. Grunnen til dette er dens revolusjonerende DynaRig.
Tre roterende karbonfibermaster bærer totalt 2 400 m² på 15 gaffelseil, noe som resulterer i eksepsjonell ytelse, hastighet og manøvrerbarhet. Maltese Falcon ble kjøpt i august 2009 av den nåværende eieren og blir ofte sett konkurrere i superyacht-regattaer.
Seilbåten har plass til 12 personer og er tilgjengelig for charter.
4. Athena, 90 meter
Athena er en 90 meter lang superyacht konstruert av det nederlandske Royal Huisman verftet tilbake i 2004. Eksteriøret ble designet av Pieter Beeldsnijder, marinearkitekturen av Dykstra & Partners.
Ytelsene til denne båten gjør den til en av de raskeste superyachtene, med en toppfart på 19 knop. Athena er vinneren av Show Boats International Award for beste seilbåt over 40 meter i 2004.
3. EOS, 93 meter
EOS er en tremastet skonnert med en lengde på 93 meter. Seilbåten ble lansert i 2006 av Lürssen. Seilbåten bruker doble MTU-dieselmotorer og kan nå en hastighet på rundt 16 knop. EOS totale hestekrefter er 4663.
30. juni 2012 klokken 15:00 tok skipet fyr utenfor Ormøya i Oslo. Barry Diller og kona hans var i land på den tiden. Mannskapet kontrollerte situasjonen frem til brannvesenet og havnepolitiet ankom kl 16:15. Brannen ble slukket kl. 20:00 og skipet kom trygt tilbake til havn for skadevurdering. Brannen forårsaket alvorlige skader på toppdekkene, resten av yachten forble uskadet.
2. Black Pearl, 106 meter
Black Pearl er en av verdens største seilbåter, med en lengde på 106 meter og koster mer enn 200 millioner dollar. Den ble bygget av Oceanco-verftet i Nederland.
Black Pearl har et moderne og komplekst energigenerering system og et førsteklasses DynaRig-oppsett laget av Dykstra Naval, noe som gjør den til en av verdens mest avanserte seilbåt.
Ifølge Oceanco har de gjort henne i stand til å krysse Atlanteren uten å bruke drivstoff. Denne innovative strukturen deler inn seilene hennes i mindre seksjoner. En enkelt person er i stand til å sette 2900 kvm seilareal på noen få minutter. Seilbåten kan nå nærmere 30 knop og regenererer nok energi til å drive hele lasten. Uten behov for generatorene.
1. Sailing Yacht A, 142.8 meter
Nummer én på listen er Sailing Yacht A, et kontroversielt fartøy på grunn av kombinasjonen av seilkraft og motoryachting. Den offisielle kategorien er seilassistert motoryacht.
Sailing Yacht A har eksteriørdesign av Philippe Starck, med marinearkitektur av Nobiskrug og Dykstra Naval. Sailing Yacht A har et stålskrog. Hun drives av 2 MTU-motorer, som gir henne en toppfart på 21 knop.
